Inspired By: Home for the Holidays

,

What inspires your card creations? For this card the hanging home sign stretched my creativity and eventually led to a Christmas card.

Each step I had to reimagine how this sign could translate to a card…..

Recipe

  • Scored cardstock with faux wood ink dragging cut into strips for the wood
  • Small frames cut from nesting die; glued and stacked
  • Lattice die, inked in Gray and glued behind frames
  • Alphabet dies; Cut multiples, glued and stacked
  • Christmas botanical dies cut from Distressed Sprayed stock in Greens, Browns and Reds
  • Twine for hanger
  • Sentiment stamp and White embossing powder
  • Glitter paste for snow

The assembly was a combination of flat glue and popped up elements. Dry fitting was critical before glueing this together. I placed a center strip and outside strips behind the glued strips so I could stabilize the boards, then glued them individually.

Using foam strips, I popped up the wood and the frames. Everything else was glued flat. Before I attached the “Sign”, I embossed the sentiment on deep blue 110lb cardstock.

I fiddled with the twine for quite some time, but think it was worth the time.

What inspires you? Would love to hear your thoughts!

Hugs all around – Kathy
