You cured yet? A Get-Well Hug

Who knew? The idiom “under the weather” most likely referred to sailors who were feeling unwell and sought refuge below deck from the harsh weather conditions, literally placing them “under the weather” deck. What better time to send someone some laughter than when they are under the weather! 🤗

Inspiration

Funny chicken with a double entendre sentiment? Enough said. But seriously, this was not only fun to make. It was really fun to color. I’m a big fan of Jill Foster with Penny Black stamps and Tina over at Cards and Coffee Time for their creative layouts that inspired this fun card.

Creation

This was a super easy A6 card.

  1. First, stamp your image from the adorable Whimsy Stamp, Get Well with memento black ink. That’s if you were planning on using alcohol markers. I don’t have a die set to cut these out, so I fussy cut the image.
  2. Next cut two A6 card panels. Later we will cut them down all at once for the border. One is cut from white 80 lb card stock and the other is cut from green. Emboss the white card stock with the Twinkling Star embossing folder from SSS.
  3. Cut a strip from an edge or die from white card stock. I used Papertrey Ink’s Scallops Collection Die.
  4. Using an A6 piece of copy paper, I planned where the White embossed panel would meet the green embossed panel, marked each and cut. This doesn’t have to be perfect but close because your strip is going to cover the seam. I glued the panels and strip to the copy paper then with a stitch edge dye cut the entire panel at once to create a mat border. This gives the piece a nice finished edge.
  5. Stamp and die cut the sentiment from white card stock.
  6. I popped up the chicken with white foam strips, glued the sentiment down, added some white gel pen for accents and green glitter dots. For the water splashes or sweat (whatever makes you comfortable), I added glossy accent for some Whimsy of my own :).
