I can’t believe Christmas is 4 month away! But I do love making Christmas cards and celebrating Christ’s Birth. Can’t you just see this little one looking at the star? Just makes me smile…..
Inspiration

This is one of my all-time favorite stamps from Penny Black and I have many! It also takes me back to when my boys were little. Their wonder, imagination, toys and chubby cheeks brings a tear to my eye even as I write this. At the end of the post you can see 2 more creations using this adorable set. ❤️
Creation
This is an A2 Card with a top fold/layout.
- With the adorable Sweet Sledder stamp, I stamped with memento black ink on Nina Ultrasmooth Cardstock and used Copic markers for the coloring. You’ll notice I really only used two colors for the pallet and added the colors in different values between the girl and bear for a pleasing layout. Then I fussy cut the image (I really don’t mind fussy cutting – just takes some practice!)
- Using Memento Summer Sky ink, I blended a small area of some cardstock, heat-set and stamped the sentiment with white pigment ink followed by white embossing powder and heat embossed. THEN, I cut out the shape. I find this takes the guess work out of centering your sentiment. Works for me every time.
- For the background panel, I used an older winter snow embossing folder. Using the same Memento ink, I inked the debosssed side of the folder. I wanted it to be splotchy so I did this with one pass in the cutting machine.
- For the snow hills: I manually cut two shapes that resemble hills and did ink blending on the bottom of the far hill. This also allowed me to get the trees where I wanted since it covered up the bottom of the embossed panel.
- Let’s assemble! I glued the far snow hill directly to the embossed panel that was cut to 4 1/4 x 5 1/2. (A2). I let the snow hills hang off the card and trimmed them after they were affixed. The second snow hill was popped up with Fun Foam and glued down using liquid glue. Trim the excess. At this point I glued the background to the A2 card base.
- Using foam strips, I positioned the characters at the edge of the front hill and popped up everything that wasn’t “touching” the hill, then used glue for the rest. I popped up the sentiment panel using fun foam.
- Finishing touches: With a B00 copic marker I created footprints and shadows around the girl and sled. Wink of Stella was lightly glazed on the trees and a few snowflakes, on the edge of the scarf and a dot on the girls cheek. With a white gel pen I added dots, snowflakes and highlights all around. Glossy accents were used on her buttons on the sleeves. Finished! I would love to know if you tried this and how it turned out.
