This is my final installment of the Sweet Tweets set from Simon Says Stamp. This turned out so unique and cute, it was one of my favorites. What’s up friend? Paper hugs and sunshine all around!
Inspiration

I love buttons. No idea why, but I remember going through my grandmother’s button box when I was a little girl looking at all the colors, shapes and sizes. It brought joy to a little girl. I also wanted to incorporate the beautiful Lace Layering frame from Honeybee stamps. It’s one of my favorites with all its lacy goodness. I think it came together sweetly. What do you think?
Creation

This is an A6 Card. Let’s start with the focal panel.
- Color and cut out the Sweet Tweet elements. From the Lace Heart Layering frame, cut 2 of these from white card stock. I used the center cutout from the frame and glued them together to give it some stability. From a lace doily die, I cut 1 from white card stock and stamped What’s up from the same ink used in the background stenciling. Using foam squares I popped up the birds and flowers. Assemble the panel the way you like it.
- For the background, I used white card stock to stencil the little hearts. I made this stencil with my Scan n Cut, but there are many heart stencils out there that you can buy! I used memento inks and blended pink to yellow, creating the light poppy color where the colors meet.
- I used button dies and cut 3 of each out of cardstock. Glue and stack them together. With embroidery floss I stitched the buttons along the length of the thread.
- Easy! Now let’s assemble. For the color mat panel, I used the same pink memento ink and ink blended the edges for a perfect match, then glued the two mats to the card base. Pop up the focal panel with foam. You can use foam tape, squares or whatever you like. I personally use fun foam (from the kids arts and crafts isle and cheap!). It’s easy to glue with wiggle room and holds up in the mail.
- Finishing Touches: glue the buttons down, tucking and arranging the thread. Along the strand, I glued the thread to the card sporadically using my reverse tweezers to hold it until it was dry. White gel pen was used on the birds, Wink of Stella to glitter the flowers and stickles to the inside of the flowers. Love bling! To finish off, I added Wink of Stella to the buttons and we are done! (If you want shiny buttons, apply glossy accents before the stitching and let dry – that would be cute too…)
