You make my heart sing!

Is there anyone in your life that makes your heart sing? What a nice thing to somebody, right? But more importantly, how must that person feel to hear it? Sometimes we forget to appreciate or thank those closest to us. I know I do! This is another installment of the Sweet Tweet stamp set from Simon Says Stamps. Hope you enjoy it!

Inspiration

As if the little bird and birdbath wasn’t enough, my inspiration here was actually a lady on YouTube that turned cardstock into fabric! (I’ve looked high and low for the creator that I saw to no avail- if you know message me so we can credit her brilliance!) If you look closely, you will see the back panel looks like fabric. That’s because it is! Her video showed how to create this and if you hop down to CREATION you can find out how to make one for yourself.

Creation

This is an A7 card. For more detailed information on my process and sentiments from Sweet Tweets, see this post.

  1. Let’s start with the fabric panel. Using an A7 panel, I applied a sheet of double-sided adhesive. Removing the backing, I then applied a piece of white thin cotton fabric. Now is a good time to cut off all the edges. It will be sticky so I’d recommend non-stick scissors versus a trimmer. Insert this into your favorite embossing folder. I chose a tiny floral folder I’ve had for a long time. Make sure you place it in the folder where you will emboss the fabric side. I cut this down a quarter of an inch on the top and sides. Like magic you have a beautiful fabric Panel that was so easy to make! These are so fun you could make a few at a time to have on hand.
  2. For the focal panel, I embossed a piece of cream card stock with the Sizzix/Tim Holtz 3D embossing folder. The little window die cut was another older die from my stash. I cut three of those, stacked and glued for dimension. The curtains and lights behind the window was created with copic markers. For the frame, I used nesting rectangles and cut two then glued to the brick background. The window was glued with liquid glue as well. Once the backgrounds were done, I mounted the panel on an A7 white card base from Neena 110lb card stock with strong double-sided adhesive. Hint: Glue won’t work for this step due to mounting on fabric.
  3. I arranged all the scene pieces and popped up the bird and birdbath with foam tape. Added the little bow, sentiments, stickles, bling, and glitter, as always. This was a fun and easy card to make. It did not take as long as you would expect!
